Fatma Torun is a Managing Associate at Hansu Attorney Partnership. She advises and represents domestic and international companies in real estate and construction law, administrative law, corporate and commercial law, intellectual and industrial property law, and dispute resolution.
A substantial part of her practice is managing the private-law and public-law dimensions of real estate investments and property relationships together. She represents clients in title cancellation and registration actions, rent determination, adaptation and eviction disputes, objections and litigation against zoning plans, and disputes arising from cadastral procedures.
Her administrative-law experience extends to public procurement, administrative contracts and expropriation. She advises and represents clients on the drafting, interpretation and review of tender specifications and administrative contracts; participation in public tenders; cancellation of tenders and termination of contracts; debarment from tenders; and annulment actions against decisions of the Public Procurement Authority.
In expropriation she conducts actions for annulment of the expropriation act and correction of material error, determination of expropriation value and registration, claims to increase the award and for repossession, and disputes concerning de facto taking and ecrimisil (occupation compensation). This experience allows property rights and public power to be assessed together, particularly in real estate and investment projects.
In commercial and contract law she acts for domestic and international clients in sectors including food, cosmetics and consumer products, energy, construction, healthcare and medical devices, and petroleum and lubricants. She drafts, reviews and negotiates sale, services, employment, agency, settlement, mandate and ordinary partnership agreements.
In debt recovery and commercial disputes she follows complaints against acts of enforcement and bankruptcy offices, actions for cancellation and removal of objections, stay of enforcement, negative declaration and recovery actions, and third-party (istihkak) claims. She conducts dispute strategy in line with clients' commercial objectives, taking into account the nature of the claim, existing security and recoverability.
In intellectual and industrial property law she is particularly involved in anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy work. She manages the detection of infringements, search and seizure applications, measures concerning counterfeit and pirated goods at customs, related administrative, civil and criminal filings, and processes for the destruction of seized goods.
In employment law she reviews and negotiates employment contracts, non-compete and confidentiality agreements and collective bargaining agreements, and advises and represents clients in disputes arising from union organisation, claims for union compensation, Social Security Institution recourse actions and service-determination cases.
Before joining Hansu Attorney Partnership she worked principally in administrative law, real estate law, commercial law, family law and the law of obligations, gaining experience in both litigation and advisory work.
Torun's approach is to assess legal issues arising from real estate, investment and commercial activity not through a single branch of law, but within an integrated legal strategy that takes property, public law, contracts, recovery and dispute dimensions together.
